I regularly update my software, still it notifies me with a message that my system is not secure. Clicking on check for updates, removes this problem but after 1 hour it still notifies me again. What should I do?

If you receive a message that your system is not secure, it means that there are options that need to be re-configured, which can relate to practically anything - networking, security, display, hardware, etc. You need to check exactly what the problem is in its category. Once you take care of those messages, the notifications will disappear.
My real-time scanning option shows that it's turned on, but when I go to virus and spyware protection it says "Buffer overflow checking is off" and "Script checking is off". Then, when I click "Real-time scanning settings" it says that my real-time scanning is off and when I turn it on, it automatically goes "Off" within 5 seconds. Can somebody help me?

Try uninstalling the application and then installing it again. This should fix it. You can use Consumer Products Removal tool in order to remove the software from your PC. If the problem persists, you will need to contact the support team. You can get in touch with them using the McAfee Support page.
